What's the one game you couldn't put down? The game that connected you with friends, and made you feel like you belonged? If a game has ever defined a chapter of your life, then you already know the spark we’re chasing. Our mission is to ignite that same feeling for players; the thrill of competition, the joy of community, and the belonging of finding your own corner of a larger world.

Great games begin with people who dare to dream big. If that sounds exciting, you might be exactly who we’re looking for.

Bonfire is a group of experienced and ambitious developers, proud to be creating our first original IP: Arkheron. It is a fast-paced, competitive PVP game set in a surreal dark fantasy world where 15 teams of three battle their way up the Tower. In a world built from memories, you will loot powerful items to create and adapt a unique build-out that will change your strategy and combat experience with every Ascension.

At Bonfire, we believe great games are built on more than features — they’re built on deep player understanding, thoughtful decisions, and the tools that help teams act on both. Our Platform group builds the systems that connect players to the studio: analytics that reveal how people play, community tools that shape how they connect, and marketing and messaging infrastructure that determines when, where, and how we show up for them.

This team owns the foundation behind Arkheron and future projects — from data pipelines and experimentation frameworks to community and martech systems that power real player-facing experiences. While much of the work happens behind the scenes, the impact shows up directly in how players discover the game, engage with each other, and experience the world over time.

This role focuses on the shared platform systems and tools that enable teams to make better decisions and deliver better player experiences at scale. (Note: responsibilities such as owning game feature development, monetization design, or franchise strategy fall within other roles at Bonfire).

If you’re energized by shaping what gets built, why it matters to players, and how teams make better decisions through strong systems and tooling, this could be a great role for you.

YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE BY:

  • Owning product direction for platform systems that enable and support player-facing experiences, shaping roadmap, priorities, and long-term vision.
  • Translating player behavior into action, partnering closely with analytics and insights to turn telemetry, experimentation, and qualitative signals into clear product opportunities.
  • Prioritizing ruthlessly by weighing player value, studio leverage, and technical investment to decide what to build, what to buy, and what not to do.
  • Defining requirements for platform capabilities (such as messaging, campaigns, triggers, segmentation, and experimentation) used by game and publishing teams to deliver customer-facing experiences.
  • Shaping how the studio interacts with players at scale through shared systems and tooling, without setting game design or monetization strategy.
  • Connecting platform investments to measurable outcomes — such as improved onboarding, healthier communities, and better retention — by enabling teams with better data, tools, and workflows.
  • Partnering deeply with engineering and technical leads to scope solutions, evaluate tradeoffs, and ensure systems are scalable, maintainable, and fit for long-term use.
  • Collaborating with Arkheron’s development team by advocating for platform capabilities that unlock options and flexibility, without prescribing creative or gameplay decisions.
  • Designing for internal users by working hand-in-hand with design and UX to build tools that are intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable for developers to use.

WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU:

  • Have 5+ years of experience in product, analytics, or a data-driven role, with 2+ years shaping platform, infrastructure, or internal tooling products that support customer-facing outcomes.
  • Think naturally in player journeys and customer interactions, while working on systems rather than direct game features.
  • Use data to guide decisions, with strong instincts around metrics, telemetry, experimentation, and identifying meaningful signals versus noise.
  • Bring hands-on experience with martech and player engagement systems (campaign engines, triggers, segmentation, attribution, messaging workflows).
  • Understand modern community ecosystems (Discord integrations, bots, role systems) and how tooling choices shape player behavior and culture.
  • Are fluent in engineering concepts and tradeoffs, comfortable discussing APIs, data pipelines, telemetry, and build-vs-buy decisions with technical partners.
  • Balance competing inputs from game teams, publishing, analytics, and design — and can prioritize clearly when everything feels important.
  • Communicate with clarity and empathy, building strong relationships across disciplines.

THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE ROLE FOR YOU IF:

  • You want lots of process and structure already in place.
  • You prefer player-facing product over internal platforms + tooling.
  • Data, telemetry, and experimentation aren't core to how you make decisions.
  • You shy away from technically complex domains or API/data discussions.
  • Balancing competing stakeholder needs drains you more than it energizes you.

YOU’LL LOVE WORKING AT BONFIRE BECAUSE WE:

  • Embrace bold challenges with creativity and courage, making the tough calls to build a game we’re proud to play every day.
  • Keep fun at the core: we play Arkheron daily, staying grounded as players. If it’s not more fun than yesterday, we fix it. We don’t chase trends; we listen by playing.
  • Stay truly independent, with decisions driven by the team — not by investors or a board.
  • Thrive in a culture of passion, trust, and shared ownership; where transparency matters and egos don’t.

The base salary range for this role is $196,500 - $247,133. Depending on your experience and level (whether you’re closer to mid-level or principal), your offer may land above or below that range. We don’t just look at years on a résumé — we think about the impact you can have on the team and the game. Of course, compensation at Bonfire goes beyond salary. Every new teammate receives equity, plus a full benefits package and some extra perks to make work (and life) better. When we connect, we’ll happily walk you through the full details.
